About the team Founded in 2023, ByteDance Doubao Team is dedicated to crafting the industry's most advanced LLMs. We aim to lead global research and foster both technological and social progress. With a long-term vision and a strong commitment to the AI field, the Team conducts research in a range of areas including natural language processing (NLP), computer vision (CV), and speech recognition and generation. It boasts a robust international presence with labs and research facilities in China, Singapore, and the US. Leveraging substantial data and computing resources and through continued investment in these domains, our team has built a proprietary general-purpose model with multimodal capabilities. This model supports over 50 downstream business services including Doubao, Coze, and Dreamina, which are available to enterprise customers via the Volcano Engine. Currently, the Doubao App is the most used AIGC application in the China market. Successful candidates must be able to commit to one of the following start dates below: 1. January 15, 2024 2. February 5, 2024 3. March 4, 2024 4. May 20, 2024 5. June 10, 2024 6. July 15, 2024 7. August 12, 2024 We will prioritize candidates who are able to commit to these start dates. Responsibilities: - Develop or execute research to push forward the state of the art in LLM. - Conduct experiments, including designing experimental details, writing reusable code, running evaluations, and organizing results. - Collaborate with a large and globally distributed team - Contribute to publications and open-sourcing efforts.
Qualifications
- PhD graduate with a background in NLP, experience in areas like LLM pretrain; interpretable LLM; LLM evaluation; responsible LLMs; LLM alignment are preferred. - Candidates with influential open-source projects or publications at top-tier AI conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, CVPR, ICML, ICLR, ICCV, and ACL) are preferred. - Strong sense of responsibility, good learning ability, communication ability, and self-motivation. - Good communication and collaboration skills, able to explore new technologies with the team and promote technological progress. 【For Pay Transparency】Compensation Description (Annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $136800 - $205000 annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.

Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
